Located just 1 km away from Lansdowne Market, the Garhwali Mess stands as one of Lansdowne’s oldest and most meticulously preserved heritage buildings.
Constructed by the British in January 1888, the Garhwali Mess has been a custodian of the town’s rich heritage. Serving as more than just a mess, it doubles up as a museum, showcasing a fascinating collection of wild animal skins, exquisite furnishings, and impressive trophies. One notable feature is a dial adorned with arrow symbols, offering guidance towards prominent peaks like Nandadevi, Chaukhamba, Kamet, and others within the Himalayan Range.
